John Ineson, one of the four founding directors of the company has retired as a director.

John’s enthusiasm and drive for the project was a significant element of the early success in acquiring Jam Roll.

We express our sincere thanks to John and wish him the very best for the future.

Our Chairman, Michael Baden-Powell added:

BP said about ‘Playing the Game’

“It is essential to try to get into the habit of cheery co-operation, of forgetting our personal wishes and feelings in bringing about the good of the whole.”

This describes John’s attitude towards Scouting and the Jam Roll project in particular. John played the game with a strong sense of personal commitment and when asked for help, with true Scouting spirit he gave it willingly.

We are pleased to have Dave Cheney on the team at RRHT.  Dave is an experienced coachbuilder as well as a lifetime Scouter.

He brings the traditional skills required to work on Eccles and will probably be looking at the lantern roof first.  There are places where the roof is not watertight and this must be addressed before the caravan is exposed to the elements.

Welcome to the team Dave!!

We still have not managed to find out what the tow bar looked like, or how it was attached to the car.

Does anybody have any photos that may show the connection method, or know how it was done in 1929??

Friends of Michael BP, Graham & Jill Pretty, came to GB for a holiday and couldn’t resist a visit to RRHT to see how JR was comiing along.

They did seem impressed with how the work was coming on.

A Derbyshire Guider nominated Lady BP to be comemerated with a Blue Plaque.

The plaque was erected in Chesterfield in what was the grounds of the now demolished West House.

Jam Roll visited for the unveiling ceremony which was conducted by Robin (Baden) Clay – a grandson of our founder.

Robin and his wife Sue were delighted to see JR and were driven to the reception in the car.
